The Dordogne Valley… Land of 1000 Chateaux

The Dordogne Valley is steeped in history, inhabited since the very dawn of civilization, with chateaux and picture perfect villages around every corner. It boasts some of the most spectacular countryside in Europe. And with its slower pace, clean air and stress free way of life, it really is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

And for those of you looking for a little culture, we are ideally situated for all the main tourist sites. A short drive will take you to the famous medieval town of Sarlat, the caves at Les Eyzies and Montignac, walk the cobbled streets of the ancient Roman city of Perigueux or visit one of the many chateaux near Beynac and Domme.

For the more adventurous, take a canoe trip down the beautiful River Vézère or enjoy the views from the skies in a hot air balloon. And at the end of a long day site seeing, take some time out to reflect, in what is quite possibly one of the most tranquil places on earth. Known as the land of 1000 chateaux and the birth place of modern man, the Dordogne is a truly magical place.

Magnificent views

All three of our beautifully restored cottages are full of charm and have bags of character. But what makes them really special are the views. The Maisonneuve domain is situated at  the top of a hill and the surrounding countryside with rolling hills and clear blue skies is truly beautiful.

So whether you are sitting by the pool, enjoying an evening meal on one of the private terraces, reading a book in your own private garden or simply waking up on a warm sunny morning, we guarantee the views from Maisonneuve will take your breath away.
